Places to eat in Amsterdam

This is all my personal preference, but I have had a few people ask for recommendations of where to eat in Amsterdam since I moved here, so here are my tried and tested faves...

Breakfast/Brunch

Ah the most important meal of the day. Here are places I love:

  1. PLUK, in the pretty nine streets

  2. Bakers and Roasters, de pijp

  3. Cafe George, Jordaan (the George group also have another by Vondelpark and by Van Gogh museum - opposite Hermès)

  4. Eighty-Two, de pijp (fairly new and run by two lovely girls who are smashing it)

  5. Blue Amsterdam, for a view in the centre

Lunch/Snacks

  1. Cafe de Jaren, centre. Walk through the restaurant to the terrace at the back for gorgeous views where you can sit along the canal

  2. De Duvel, de pijp. Lots of bars along this street, if you go on a weekend arrive early to get a seat!

  3. Caldi e Freddi, centre. For proper Italian sandwiches on the go

  4. Proeflokaal A. van Wees, nine streets, a cosy tasting room with rich cheese fondue.

  5. Het Paardje, de pijp.

  6. Cafe Thijssen, Jordaan. Grab a seat after Noordermarkt on a Saturday morning if you can!

Dinner

  1. Impero Romano, de pijp. Go for the traditional pasta in the cheese wheel, its their speciality!

  2. Happyhappyjoyjoy, I went to the west but multiple locations. Fun place with food for sharing

  3. Pazzi, Jordaan. For pizza!

  4. Linguini, Jordaan. A tiny, romantic Italian restaurant

  5. Loetje, for the best steak

  6. Restaurant 't Zwaantje, for dutch food in a gezellig setting

These are all places I have been, there are so many more on my list but I'll add to this once I've been to them...
